There are many free keyword research tool s out there, but have thought of using Google Trends as your new keyword planner.
Google Trends is not only free to use but also very easy for any newbie in the field.
But how to use Google Trends as a free keyword research tool?
You must be knowing what Google Trends basically is for.
Google trends is a Google service that allows anyone to explore how a particular term is entered relative to search volume. As Google is the biggest Search Engine in the planet, it knows how much a particular term is searched in various parts of the world.
Now let’s see how to use Google Trends as a powerful keyword research tool.
Go-to Google trends and enter the keyword in the “Explore Trends ” bar.
For example we are searching for the term “Startup India” and here is the result.the result shows you a graph that depicts Interest Over time and in the middle you can find Interest by Region with related topics and related queries in the bottom.
Through the related queries you can easily explore the long tail keywords. Long keywords are better to use than one or two phase keywords because they let you get in the search results sooner and easier.
Moreover you can also use Trends to know about the image search, shopping search, news search and youtube search stats.
For example you can check the stats of Image search with the keyword “Startup India” over the past 5 years.
You can also compare terms (best feature). Many a times we get confused over keywords and had to do a lot of comparison tests but using Google Trends you can easily compare different keywords in just one go . For example here I am comparing two terms “Startup India” and “Startups in India”.
Although Google Trends is a very powerful tool for a keyword research it has some limitation. As you can see it doesn’t show you many things like CPC, volume, KD etc, that you can find in other free keyword planners like SEMRush.
But if you are a newbie and are trying to step-in in the industry, its a great way to start from.
